St. James
Armenian Apostolic Church of Los Angeles

Parish Priest's Message

Dear St. James Parishioners,

Our St. James Armenian church like so many other churches is a lighthouse - where the faithful join in the celebration of the “Eucharist and grow in their faith. Since 'March 2020 even though the public celebration of the Divine Liturgy was temporarily postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we continued to celebrate the church services privately, bringing spiritual joy and comfort to our St. James faithful.

Today, I am very pleased to announce that as approved by the Parish Council, the church will be open for worship on Sunday, June 28, 2020. We are very grateful to our church’s COVID-19 Safety committee for taking adequate safety measures for the protection of our parishioners. We continue reaching out to provide pastoral care and support in new ways of keeping a parish family united. I hope St. James parishioners enjoy and appreciate the live streaming of our church Sunday. Masses via social media. I would like to thank and acknowledge Mrs. Pauline Mukhalian our website master for her precious help, time, effort, and attendance in making the St. James Services Live Stream a reality in the last three Sundays. Also, a big thank you to Jason Roberts, grandson of parish council member, Mrs. Eucille Bogosian, who helped Pauline download special software to enable the Live Stream. Their diligence and hard work are much appreciated.

The Coronavirus pandemic will surely have a long-term impact on the financial Life of all religious institutions over the world, and it might also affect the financial health and sustainability of our church. In these unprecedented and uncertain times, we understand that so many families are struggling financially and cannot support our church. However, if your financial situation allows you to support us, we will be very grateful and appreciative. When you receive a donation request or an email to encourage your generosity, remember, “God loves a cheerful giver.” St Paul writes in his better to Corinthians “who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, [will] supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increased the fruits of your righteousness”.

May our Almighty Lord bless and reward our most generous St. James parishioners very abundantly!
