Sunday School Mission Statement

The Mission of our Parish Sunday School / Faith Formation Process is to bring children closer to God through a nurturing life of prayer, reflection on the Bible, and knowledge of the Armenian Orthodox Traditions, in order to become active life-long members of the Armenian Apostolic Church.

Born and raised in Palos Verdes, CA, to loving parents, Louise and (the late) George Bedrosian, along with her 2 sisters, Lynn and Beth. Her family has always been actively involved in church.  As a young girl, she attended St. James Sunday school every Sunday, the Diocese’s Hye Camp every summer, and participated in other social events such as being presented as a Debutante in the Ladies Auxiliary Debutante Ball.   She graduated from UCLA with a BA in Linguistics and Spanish, and then received a Masters Degree in Education, a Single Subject Teaching Credential, and an Administrative Credential from Cal State Dominguez Hills.  She has worked as a High School Teacher and an Elementary Assistant Principal for many years in the Torrance Unified School District. She and her husband, Steve, were married in St. James Armenian Church where they also baptized all 3 of their sons, Frankie, Peter, and Joe.  One of her greatest gratifications as a parent is to now watch her boys attend and be actively involved in Sunday school, Hye Camp, and other Armenian organizations where they have made lifelong friends.  Gail contributes the success of this Sunday school program to the devoted families and parish of this church and considers it a great honor and true pleasure to spend each Sunday with the youth of St. James. Mrs. Chelebian was recently appointed chairlady of the Christian Education Council (CEC) for the Western Diocese by His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian.
